Prevention is always better than cure. This saying can be applied for almost all facets of life, when the discussion is about being proactive or having to react to an event. In the present age of computers, this mantra is apt.
With technology taking over the way we do things, running a business relies on a foundation architecture. A variety of hardware devices with line of business applications and software sitting on top of the hardware make up this foundation. This setup is hardened with cyber security and networking practices. With each layer adding more variables in this setup, it only adds to more points of failure. Any such failure, no matter how small or big, can have a huge impact on the business and it’s bottom-line. This stresses the importance of the teams that manage these critical devices to be proactive in identifying possible failures and rectifying them before they occur. Not everything in life can be predicted. But data can be correlated to show trends, which can in-turn be used to predict events.
The human body cannot function without the heart pumping blood. The IT infrastructure that supports a business is similar to a heart in a human. The services should be operational at all times or the business would cease to operate.
